Seize the Fall Season

It is beginning to feel like fall and for some of you that brings the excitement of football season, fairs, farm shows or festivals and who doesn't look forward to the rush of color that ushers in the season.  Unfortunately during these current times fall sports are different from previous seasons, many fairs and farm shows have been cancelled and every community is finding their way to best get the kids back to school safely with or without sports.

We are all ready to get back to normal but we now have the opportunity to seize this time we have to get outdoors and reconnect with your family and friends.  Do a little research to find trails, parks, tennis or basketball courts in your area.  Find what will interest you and your family whether it is a short hike or bike ride, if you have the equipment hit some tennis balls or shoot some hoops or just try some backyard games.  You don't need to be experienced at any of these just get out, have some fun and allow your mind to be free to focus on the activity rather than the issues of the world.  Do a search for 'trails near me', 'parks near me' or add the area which you are interested, type your county to find something a few towns away.  Be adventurous go somewhere you have not visited, check out the park and maybe find a restaurant offering outside dining to add to the experience.  Leave the headphones and earbuds at home and stay away from your phone as much as possible, if you can leave it in the car.

So what I am suggesting is during this season think outside the box or gym for your workout and enjoy this beautiful season.  Whether you take advantage of the suggestions above or find outdoor yoga, fitness classes, walking or hiking groups.  Check the sports section in your local newspaper for group hikes or search on Facebook for group meet up events. Let's just get outside before we get into the winter season where we are less likely to take our exercise or activities outdoors.   This is a great way to add variety to your routine, prevent boredom and you may discover a new favorite activity.
