Well here we are September and as we prepare for the fall season we are all anxious for a fresh start. At this time we are in a place we have never imagined, you’re telecommuting and the kids are learning virtually including college students. I know for myself in March when this all started I would have never guessed this is where we would be. It is important to remember our young people learn from our examples, so it is important to do our best try to set good examples and help them to understand the importance of following the guidelines.
With all of these changes it makes getting to the gym more difficult or maybe you are just not comfortable working out in that atmosphere. I know the fitness facilities in my area, as I am sure your local facilities, have been doing their homework and making decisions on the best way to get you back to the gym safely. Please keep mind this is all uncharted territory so be patient, follow their guidelines and if you do have concerns or suggestions approach the manager in a kind manner. If you are not planning to head back to the gym this may be a good time to add some outdoor activities with the family create your version of recess. Grab some sidewalk chalk for your own hopscotch, jumprope or play volleyball sans the net. If your kids are older start your own running/walking program, your version of a CrossFit class, create a competition such as most workouts a week or total minutes for the week offering a variety of rewards from which to choose. Find something to get you and your family up and moving. Getting that blood flowing will help to clear the fog, soothe anxiety and reduce stress. Oh and leave those phones on the sidelines.
So Get Up, Get Out & Get Moving!
