Getting cabin or COVID fever???
In my household we have been trying to be good citizens and follow all the COVID guidelines but...GET ME OUTTA HERE!! We wear our masks, our only trips are to the grocery store or any appointments we have and I am working remotely. We have a small COVID bubble with which we interact occasionally and reach out to other friends and family members via phone, Facetime or Zoom. We go out to dinner very rarely and when we do we try to go when the restaurant is least busy. I am not terribly worried about getting sick but really just trying to do my part to help get us through this as soon as possible so we can travel freely again.
Of course the current extreme and overactive weather just makes this more difficult making us feel even more trapped. It also makes it more difficult to get outside for some fresh air, clear our heads and move our bodies. Which is a great way to fight our cabin / COVID fever.
So if you are in the cold, layer up, lace up (shoes or boots), cover up whatever you need to and head outside. If you need to change up your scenery, find a trail close to home whether in your community or a community close by and check it out. You could find a local cafe`, coffee shop or bakery for some hot chocolate, hot tea or coffee to warm up after your time in the cold. You could make a day of it with a friend or your family this will warm heart not only physically but also emotionally. Consider snapping a few pics of your day to share, maybe make one your wallpaper on your phone or computer to remind you of the experience.
This is a reminder for myself just as much as it is for you. With the colder weather it is easy to get into the rut of hanging out in the house but 'go, go, get outta here' and re-energize your mind & body.
The pics below are a fond memory...
Yep that's my husband pushing his bike up a steep hill, we wanted to get to the top of the mountain where we could ride our bikes on a trail around the mountain.
Well we made it and this amazing view was our reward in addition to the fond memories of that day, seeing deer, a black bear, watching military jets flying overhead as they trained. We chatted with some Appalachian Trail hikers, AT crosses the trail we were on.
Ahhh, great day. I think I'll go for a walk.
