It's the most wonderful time...?!? It is a wonderful time of year, but for some people this time of year can bring on stress, emotional & physical. We also tend to put our self-care on the back burner. This is not the time to completely kick your workout to the curb, just make some adjustments. Keeping physical activity in your toolbox helps you deal with some of the stresses and helps with some of the additional calories we consume during this season. It is okay to enjoy your favorite holiday cookies, dessert or that side dish that brings you fond memories. Another way to help with holiday stress practice saying 'no' to some of the requests you receive. Make sure you commit only to as much as you can be fully present. I am sure if you respond with kind words expressing that you don't want to spread yourself too thin so you can be your best self for others and yourself.
Give these tips a try...
If your workout is typically one hour consider cutting it back to 30-45 minutes or if you workout everyday try alternating days, squeeze in a walk at lunch or a mini session at home. Taking care of yourself allows you to enjoy the season fully and be present for your loved ones.
This can be a nice time to begin your wellness journey, if you are considering one of the most frequent New Year's resolutions; lose weight, get fit, start exercising, etc. Get a kick start now with something simple, get active two days a week, add more fruits, vegetables or more water to your diet, whatever may get the fire started. Your resolution won't seem so overwhelming in January and you can get rid of some holiday stress.
New bitecise workout sessions coming soon.
